6/9/25: From Self-Doubt to Self-Worth: Growing Confidence as a Woman in Business

When I was a kid, I said “sorry”… a lot.
I was happy to shrink into the background. I felt like everyone around me was better at everything, and I never thought I was capable of much.

If you know me now, you’d never believe that was me.

So, what changed? How did I build my confidence?

First and foremost—Jeremy, my husband. He was the first person who made me feel like I didn’t have to say “yes” to everything. He made it okay to want more. He helped me find my voice and feel safe being unapologetically myself.  Some days he might regret instilling this confidence (haha).

Others came along, too—people who complimented skills I didn’t even know I had, who encouraged my adventures, who simply reminded me I was enough.

Here’s the point:
Confidence is not a trait. It’s a skill.
Believing it’s just a trait implies you either have it or you don’t.
Believing it’s a skill means it can be learned, built, and grown.

And that means you have the power to develop it.

Sure, life will hand you things that chip away at your confidence. But as a woman and a business owner, I want to challenge you to find the spark you do have—and fan the flame.

Here’s how to start growing your confidence:

  1. Ask the people who know and love you best. Let them remind you of what makes you strong.
  2. Write down the good things you feel about yourself. Give those thoughts space to live.
  3. List out your accomplishments—big and small. Celebrate them. Own them.

Once you start seeing what others see—and what you’re capable of—you can take the next step:

Say “yes” to what excites you.
Say “no” to what drains you.
And watch your confidence grow.
