6/30/25: Quarterly Reflection: Lessons, Wins & What’s Next for Balance & Business with Melissa

It may be the end of the 2nd quarter for a lot of businesses, but it is officially the last day of the 1st quarter of Balance & Business with Melissa.  It may be a little odd, a little unorthodox, but I want to take time to reflect on the past 90 days. Why?  Because I’m a little odd and unorthodox, I genuinely believe in honesty and authenticity, and reflection can be a very positive tool when done right.  So, let’s break it down!

I’m going to start with the struggles, not because I am a negative Nelly (sorry to all the Nelly’s out there), but because I can take those and feed into the positives.  Here are a couple things that didn’t go as planned…or at all –

  1. The delay in my podcast.  I said May, then I said June, and honestly, now it is a July goal.  Mostly tied to tech/software issues, but a little bit of funding issues.
  2. I didn’t do my first workshop in May, as planned.  To be honest, with everything happening, mid-to-end of May sort of snuck up on me, I didn’t have it done, and I didn’t want to half@$$ it, so just chose to delay.  It was frustrating for me, because I don’t like to “fail” but I also don’t want to give anything less than my best. But have no fear! I do plan to launch in-person and virtual workshops in the 3rd Quarter.
  3. I haven’t taken on as many 1-on-1 coaching clients as I would’ve liked to.  I have spent June strategizing ways to reach new people and am certain this next quarter will bring the growth I desire.

OK, now those are out of the way.  Like I said, not harping on the negatives, just recognizing where I haven’t achieved what I wanted to, but here comes the fun part – celebrating successes –

  1. I LAUNCHED MY OWN COACHING BUSINESS! I mean seriously, I decided to chase my dream and did it…how cool is that?
  2. I had three amazing ladies who had the opportunity to grow their business as new clients, while helping me grow my brand, and it has been an honor working with them these past few months.
  3. I launched my YouTube channel.  This was probably one of my biggest personal challenges because of how self-conscience I feel in front of the camera, but I did it!
  4. I made a guest appearance on my mentors’ podcast…coming later this summer.
  5. I joined the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce.  Being integrated and involved in my community is very important to me.  Along with that, I was able to donate coaching packages to a few community events.
  6. I redesigned my website, but that was easy thanks to Oh My Hi.

And a couple things sort of related to my business – I applied, was accepted, and completed The ILT Academy 100 course.  My application to the 700 program is pending.  I also attended the Women’s Business Conference in Jamestown and made great connections there, including the North Dakota Women’s Business Center who I’m hoping to collaborate with in the future.

All and all, it has been a great three months.  It would be easy to stress, worry, and be down on myself about the things I didn’t accomplish, but instead I am feeling great about what I did accomplish, and that is pushing me to do more in the 3rd Quarter.

As we come to the end of June, take a little time to write down your successes over the past few months and maybe a couple goals for the next few.  I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how awesome you are doing.

If you are like me and always looking for the next book to read, I highly recommend, “The Gap and the Gain” by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy.  You can snag a copy out on Amazon or at a local bookstore, but it is a great read and if you find yourself thinking about what is undone versus what is done – https://a.co/d/iWid9wF
